Shop Trolley
“The Shop Trolley at the C&W Hospital is truly amazing. A large selection of goodies that are very reasonably priced, delicious, and rather unique and difficult to find anywhere else.” - Patient
The Friends Shop Trolley visits the wards seven days a week. This service is very helpful for busy staff, and for patients unable to leave their ward.

Volunteers push the trolley around to each bay, allowing patients and staff to purchase snacks, drinks, newspapers, toiletries and other essentials. They visit almost every ward each day.

Library Trolley
I was recently a patient in the hospital and made regular use of your mobile Library service - it was an absolute lifeline. I'm recovered now and have come to the hospital to donate some books for your excellent service. Keep up the good work!”

The Library Trolley visits the wards on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Our Library Volunteers bring the patients a selection of books
on the trolley and lend them out for the duration of the patient’s stay.
Library Trolley patients and staff are able to borrow and return
books/audiobooks, request specific books, and request special items
such as large-print books or books in other languages.

Staff Lunch Trolley
Since 2022 the Friends have run the Staff Lunch Trolley in partnership with B Bagel Fulham Road. Operated by our team of volunteers, the trolley goes round the wards every weekday with a selection of bagels, salads, cakes and soft drinks.

This important service is for the benefit of busy staff who do not have time to leave their departments for lunch.​​

The Friends run a fully-stocked library for the benefit of patients and staff of the hospital.
All patients and staff are welcome to visit the library, which is on the Lower Ground Floor (Lift A/B).
Opening hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 12pm to 2pm.
Friends Library
The Friends Shop
The Friends Shop is on the ground floor of the hospital near the main entrance.
It supplies newspapers, magazines, confectionery, soft drinks, toiletries, balloons, gifts, cards and other essential items. The shop is managed independently but pays monthly rent to the Friends.
​The shop is open every weekday between 9am and 5pm.​
Hair Salon

The Friends run a Hair Salon in the hospital for the benefit of staff, patients and the general public. Alto Salon is managed by Emma Montalto and is located on the second floor near Lift D.

Sales
“I was delighted to donate my husband Chris Ramsey’s books to the Friends of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital as a big thanks to the hospital for all the treatments and support that they offered him during his last years. The Wednesday and Friday ‘book and bric à brac sale’ at the hospital was a particular favourite place to buy books for Chris, and I think this is fitting as a way of giving something back by providing further happy reading to others.”

Book and bric à brac sales take place every Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 1pm in the hospital’s main atrium.

Items for sale are donated from many different sources including former patients, local businesses, and generous local residents.
​
Prices are kept low and all profits go to the Friends to fund our various projects.
​
Commercial Traders
The Friends licence small commercial traders to operate in the hospital. On weekdays traders operate at the back of the Atrium opposite the Children's Therapy department, and at weekends they are at the front between the two escalators. Our vendors sell all kinds of items, from cosmetics and jewellery to scented candles and children's clothing.
