On Sunday 13th October the Trust's Butterfly Volunteer team, including volunteers, staff and other supporters, walked eight miles between West Middlesex and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals to raise funds for the Butterfly Volunteer service.
Butterfly Volunteers provide a peaceful presence to patients who are in the last weeks, days or hours of their life. Offering dying patients’ company and comfort at this time, supporting patients’ families and those close to them, with respite and advocating where needed. The team is made up of 26 volunteers based in both West Middlesex and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. We have supported this project since February 2024, funding the salary of the Butterfly Volunteer Manager, who recruits and oversees the volunteer team.
The walk raised over £10,000, an incredible achievement which will help us to continue supporting the vital role of the Butterfly Volunteer Manager into 2025 and beyond. We are so grateful to everyone who took part in or sponsored the walk. Some photos from the day are below.
